Fishing remains good. And it should just get better. The walleyes are fairly plentiful in the lakes area, and it seems that there is a good range of year classes. We have been fishing Gull, Whitefish and Pelican and the chub bite is picking up. Live bait rigging is not easy for some, but it’s very effective and a good way to catch them this time of year. I like to fish with a 3/8 or ½ ounce weight, a decent sized hook with 5 or 6 foot leader (6 or 8 pound fluorocarbon). Mouth hooked or tail hooked minnows will do the trick. If you are tail-hooking, juts make sure you slow down the pace. There really is nothing better than a scared minnow. Jigs and rainbows, Jigging Rapalas (or the like) will also put walleyes in the boat. The water temperatures are in the upper 60’s, and looking at the forecast, they should start to decrease soon. Our guides are rigged and ready, so if you’re looking to get out on the water in the next couple of months, call Shelley and book. I really don’t want to say it, but I will. Ice fishing season will come along before you know it too and we are already taking reservations for guided trips. Hope you are having a good day and thank you for visiting our new website!
