The fishing around the Brainerd Lakes Area has been good. When the wind blows and it’s overcast, the walleyes seem to be “in the mood”. If you just want the rod bending, you should be able to make that happen with either live or artificial baits. Leeches fished under a bobber, and over the top of the weeds will keep you really busy. The largemouth bass, smallmouth, walleyes and bluegills all love leeches. Pike we eat them too! If you want to fish “fake bait”, cast a jig worm into the weeds and you will catch a mixed bag with that too. The pike on Gull have been fairly active. Troll larger shallow running crank baits in 12-17 feet and you should have some action, and might catch a musky in the process. If you want to get out with one of our guides, give Shelley a call at 218-839-5598.
