I
have been guiding from a
Sno Bear since Nisswa
Marine started selling
them. This machine is
amazing. Even after
running one for a number
of years, I still have a
hard time believing the
whole Sno Bear concept.
This machine has been
called a lot of
different names (bear
cat, buggy, snowmobile
on steroids and many
other names I have
forgotten). If you have
not personally seen a
Sno Bear, you too will
be amazed at what this
machine does. It’s my
“winter boat”! I take
people out on guided ice
fishing trips, tours
around the lakes and can
use it to shuttle people
to and from ice houses.
My
2009 Sno Bear has 4
holes, 4 pedestal seats,
an 18,000 BTU
thermostatically
controlled propane
furnace, 4 cylinder-fuel
injected Zenith/Hyundai
engine, two tracks, two
skis, auger mount on the
outside of the machine,
4 cabinets overhead,
stereo/cd player, mounts
for two fold down beds,
many rod holders, cup
holders, Lowrance LCX113
graph with Lakemaster
mapping system, Marcum
underwater camera,
Vexilar FL20 sonar,
cordless drill holder
for drilling holes for
pan fish or perch, snap
on hole covers, overhead
lights, 12 volt
recipticals, CO
detector, spot light for
checking tip-ups and
other uses, roof vent,
escape hatch (the
machine does float
though), headlights,
windshield washer and
fluid pump. I’m sure I
have missed something
but you will have to see
this for yourself.
This
machine was designed and
built in West Fargo
North Dakota and I have
been to the plant. I am
so impressed with my
2009 Sno Bear that I
will have a hard time
going through another
ice fishing season
without one. At first I
saw this machine as a
luxury, but now I see it
as my work horse and it
is the most incredible
ice fishing machine that
has ever hit the ice. It
goes through a lot of
snow, it goes through
slush, it climbs ice
heaves, the weight is
distributed so evenly
that it doesn’t take a
whole lot of ice for
this machine to travel
safely on (we have been
on 8 inches in the
past), it is so well
insulated that a 30
pound tank of propane
will last a long time
and it keeps the cabin
very warm, it has so
many windows that it is
a tip-up watching
machine. 4 adults can
fish comfortably from
the Sno Bear and if the
“spot” is not “hot” the
machine raises
hydraulically and you
can move to the next
spot.
I
typically will drill the
holes from inside the
unit with my
Strikemaster Laser
Electric auger and then
use my Slush Inhaler to
get rid of the ice
shavings at once. I
think I have explained
most of the features and
benefits of this state
of the art ice fishing
machine but if you have
more questions or would
like to purchase my
machine (at the end of
the year) or a new
machine, call or email
me and I will get you in
touch with the right
people. If you do
purchase your new Sno
Bear from Nisswa Marine
please let them know
that you learned about
the machine from me,
Walleyedan.
Thank you for visiting
this page and
please let us know
if you would like a free
demo ride in my 2009 Sno
Bear or if you are
interested in booking a
guided ice fishing trip
in the Brainerd Lakes
Area, Leech Lake Area,
Mille Lacs Area or to
Upper Red Lake. One last
thing I have to mention,
the Sno Bear is a great
vehicle for people with
disabilities. I have had
a number of people fish
from the Sno Bear that
normally would not have
the chance to ice fish.
Have a great day,
Walleyedan.
